On the recent retired Carpenters and friends trip to Washington DC, the tour organizer arranged for the veterans amongst them to lay a wreath on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
Projects
Carpenters work on some of the biggest projects out there. You'll see us working on commercial buildings, hotels, stadiums, refineries, and even bridges. We are often the first on the job and the last to leave. From site prep, concrete forms and decks to framing walls and roofs, windows, doors, cabinetry, countertops, trim, installing doors and hardware and specialty furniture.
Below are a few projects our members have put a lot of hours into. We're proud of the work we do. We're professionally trained by a state-certified training program at no cost to taxpayers.
St Croix River Bridge
This bridge took 4 years, 3 months to build. At a cost of $646M including building 3 miles of four-lane highway for WI-35 and rebuilding approximately 3 miles of MN-36 and MN-95. Watch the short time-lapse video.
Pine Bend Oil Refinery
The Pine Bend Oil Refinery is operated by Flint Hills Resources, LLC and has invested nearly $1.7B in upgrades and improvements since 2010. Local 322 has anywhere between 30 and 70 carpenters on site each day and up to 300 plus carpenters working during a turnaround. Aptim Services LLC, Brand/Safway and Marley Cooling Towers are contractors on site. The refinery stretches 2 miles by 1 mile across. During a turnaround, there can be in excess of 4,000 tradesmen and women on site.
